What Makes Rage Broadheads So Popular?

Many hunters enjoy the large entry and exit wounds they leave behind. Rage also has a variety of broadheads, from 2-blade to 3-blade and 100 grain to 125 grain, which makes it easy to find the right rage broadheads for your needs.

Rage broadheads are unique expandable broadheads with SlipCam technology. This guarantees the blades to rear deploy upon entry leaving large entry and exit wounds making tracking a breeze. Rage broadheads are also different from other broadheads because the in-flight diameter is a mere 3/4″ but it opens to a whopping 1.5″ or 2″ upon impact. You might think that, as impressive as it might sound, the cutting diameter might be too big. However, each broadhead is designed with a body of aircraft-quality aluminum and a HexFlat design for stable flight.

As if these features aren’t enough Rage even came up with the Shocklock system, which uses an O-ring to absorb the shock of the blades if they hit bone on the way out.

Which Rage Broadheads are right for you?

100-grain 2-blade with 2″ cutting diameter.

125-grain 2-blade with 2″ cutting diameter.

100-grain 3-blade with 1.5″ cutting diameter.

40KE 1.5″ 2-blade for extra-large game.

Rage Titanium with 2-blade and 2″ cutting diameter

Each 3-pack of Rage Broadheads comes with a practice head which is designed to fly exactly like the real broadhead so you can be ready for opening day.

Don’t forget to print out your Rage Broadheads coupon and bring it to Grand Valley Sporting Goods to get $5 off (regular price $39.95) a pack of your choice of Rage Broadheads (excludes Titanium.)

He had a great time at Camp Larkin. He said the cabins were phenomenal, and want’s to recommend this Canadian Camp to everybody. He was most excited that he was the only person, and will be the only person this year, to sit in that treestand. Coop never puts anyone in the same spot, so you never have to worry about contamination. Check out his camp at http://www.camplarkin.com/camplarkin/

Vern took this beautiful black bear on Wed. Sept 8th at 7:40pm. That makes Mike Bell our gift certificate winner with a guess of 7:30pm! Congrats Mike, we’ll see you soon!

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies has been putting new cutting edge crossbows on the market each year and their latest crossbows for 2010 are no exception. The Trubo XLT and Phantom CLS-S are the newest from TenPoint:

Turbo XLT – The Xtreme Limb Technology is evolved from TenPoint’s CLS modelsto create a span of 13.5″ from the axles when cocked. Another feature which sets this bow apart is it’s lighter riser and foot stirrup and shorter limbs which allows it to way just 7 lbs. 11 oz. Also the Turbo XLT has TenPoint’s dry-fire inhibitor and 3.5 lb. PowerTouch-10 trigger. It comes with one of TenPoint’s automated cocking units, the ACUdraw or ACUdraw 50, and to finish it off it is imaged in Mossy Oak’s New Break UP Infinity®.

Phantom CLS-S – This crossbow is the same as the Phantom CLS but without as many accessories making it cost effective. It comes with the patented GripSafety and seconday safety and also a choice between the ACUdraw of ACUdraw 50 cocking mechanism. It also comes with the 3x Pro-View Scope.

Watch the videos below to help you decide between the ACUdraw and ACUdraw 50 cocking mechanisms.

The patented ACUdraw is the most advanced solution available on the market today for cocking a crossbow effortlessly and accurately. Fully integrated into the stock, with no dangling parts, it requires only the strength of the average person’s index …

Only Ozone kills 99.9% of bacteria!

The Log6 Ozone Generator eradicates scent by killing 99.9% of odor-causing bacteria and micro-organisms. So. Go ahead and clean your hunting wear with scent free soap, wear anti microbial undergarments, spray your boots and wear your carbon clothing…but not without killing 99.9% of all the bacteria with a Log6 Ozone Generator!

Ozone vs. Machine Washing/Soap: If you are a serious big game hunter, you wash your hunting clothing in a scent free soap. This is a good idea but the truth is, while soap is good for removing dirt, it doesn’t kill 99.9% of Bacteria! OZONE does.

Ozone vs. Anti-Microbial Fabrics: Anti-microbial fabric treatments inhibit bacterial growth. While this is good, once again, anti-microbial treatments do not kill all of the bacteria. Ozone does!

Ozone vs. Scent Elimination Sprays: Scent elimination sprays claim to change the structure of odor molecules or even kill bacteria chemically. But sprays are designed to apply topically and therefore, won’t kill all bacteria. Ozone will kill 99.9%!

Ozone vs. Carbon Hunting Clothing: Carbon captures odor causing micro-organisms in its labyrinth of nooks and crannies. What it doesn’t do is eliminate scent from the garments outer fabric or kill 99.9% of bacteria. Ozone does.

There are many arrow brands on the market so it can be hard to know which arrow to pick, but one thing that must be correct about your arrow is how it matches your compound bow. A mismatched arrow can cause the arrow to not fly correctly or even result in dry fire. There are two parts of an arrow that must match your compound bow:

1. Arrow Shaft Length-The arrow length should match the compound bow to get the best arrow flight. If the arrow is too short for the bow the arrow might slip off the rest when it is pulled back and hurt the hunter. Also the arrow cannot be too long for the compound bow because then the arrow is too heavy which affects the distance the compound bow is able to shoot.

2. Spine-This is the stiffness of the shaft. When an arrow is released the thrust of the bow string causes the arrow shaft to bend. The arrow’s spine strength should match the compound bow’s draw weight to get the best accuracy.

A very important step when getting your compound bow ready for the season is to sight in your bow. This process is not very difficult but it can take some time. The only tools you will need to do this, besides your bow and arrows, is a target, a set of allen wrenches, and distance markers.

One rule to remember is to move your pins in the direction of your group, for example:

If your group is Left of the target move your pin Left

If your group is Right of the target move your pin Right

If your group is Lower than the target move your pin Down

If your group is Higher than the target move your pin Up

Click on the link below to view the steps to sight in your compound bow.

It is important to make sure that you have the right equipment if you are someone who is into archery and bow hunting. Finding the best compound bow in Grand Rapids is important because it is the single most important piece of equipment that you will have for hunting. Of course, finding the perfect one may not turn out to be as simple as it seems.

For those looking for compound bows in Grand Rapids, MI, it would be wise to consider who it is that you are purchasing the bow from. There are many popular hunting grounds in the area so you will stumble across many stores that carry archery bows. However, you will want to take a few things into consideration before purchasing from just any store.

Picking out the perfect compound bow Grand Rapids can be tricky because there are certain rules that you have to keep in mind when you are shopping. You will need to take into consideration the material, the length, the type of bow and the weight of the bow. These things will affect your hunting game for you will want to make sure that you are getting it right from the start. You want to make sure that the store for compound bows in Grand Rapids MI is equipped with staff that can truly be of some assistance to you.

Now, because of this, you will want to make sure that you are sticking with the smaller archery stores instead of shopping with the large chain retailers. In the large chain stores, you are usually just going to find sales people working the bow section because that is where they got stuck, not because they have any real experience or knowledge. This means that you are basically on your own when you are shopping for your compound bow Grand Rapids. In the smaller shops, you will find that you will be greeted with expertise, something that you will not find in the larger stores.

Hunters that require special modifications or special set ups will appreciate the smaller archery stores because of their expert technicians. You will be able to trust that you will find exactly what you are looking for. Of course, you will want to remember that the price of the bow means nothing. Having the most expensive compound bows in Grand Rapids MI does not mean that you have the best bows.

You will need the help of experienced technicians in order to make sure that you are getting a compound bow Grand Rapids that suits your specifications perfectly. All of this is why shopping at the smaller stores is much better than the large chain stores.

If you’re looking to get new compound bow accessories this season, then you should consider looking at the different kinds of arrow rests on the market. There are different rests to fit every hunter’s needs so review the types below to choose which one will best work for you.

Shoot-thru Arrow Rest (Prong Rest): These rests have to parallel prongs and the arrow is cradled between them. They are called shoot-thru rests because the odd color arrow fletching goes between the two prongs to create minimum contact. Many hunters prefer these rests because they are simple to adjust and install.

Containment Rests: The most popular of this kind is the Whisker Biscuit, but there are others. The advantage of a containment rest is that your arrow is always ready to shoot because it cannot fall off the rest.

Drop Away Arrow Rests: These rests are designed to drop away so that the arrow can pass without touching the rest. At full draw the rest is up and the arrow is cradled between the prongs, but when the bow is released the rest drops all the way down so that large fletchings or helical fletchings are not interfered with the rest.

These are the three most popular types of rests for compound bows on the market. If you are not sure which type best fits your needs or are looking for other compound bow accessories then stop by Grand Valley Sporting Goods for expert advice.

All of the votes are in for our Turkey Picture Contest! It came right down to the wire between each of our 4 contestants, seperated by only about 30 votes between all of them! After over 200 votes, the young Jack Snyder (pic #2) took the lead to win the $50 Gift Certificate to GVSG! By the way he sounded on the phone we was VERY excited, Congrats Jack!

Biggest Bird Contest

Next is the Biggest Bird winner. Congratulations to Tom Perrin! This beauty was 22#, had 1 1/4″ spurs, and each of the THREE BEARDS measured 11 1/8″, 7 1/4″, and 2 1/2″. His son, Luke, won the Biggest Bird Contest last year, so we have started an investigation to see if, maybe, they are hunting inside John Ball Zoo. I’ll be sure to keep you posted…

Double Bull Blind Raffle

Finally is the Raffle Contest! We had a Double Bull T2 Blind up for grabs and Kurtis DeYoung came down with it! He was signed up, brought his picture in, and brought his bird into the store, so he had 3 tickets in the pot which helped his odds. Remember Kurtis, this is YOUR blind…not your Dad’s! Congrats and enjoy.
